Disney sets The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror inside the Hollywood Tower Hotel on Sunset Boulevard, where Rod Serling's television introduction tells how elevator riders vanished during a storm on Halloween night in 1939.
Riders board a rickety, elevator-style lift and, in Disney's words, are suddenly propelled up and down the abandoned shaft, unexpectedly dropping and rising, while cables snap and metal clangs overhead.
