Best Days to Visit Disney World

Tell us your Walt Disney World dates and how many days you want at Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Hollywood Studios and Animal Kingdom. The guide ranks each park’s days against that park’s own crowd history and puts each visit on the lightest combination of days, keeping the rest days and fixed days you choose.

Crowd scores are each park’s own 1–10 level, ranked against that park’s own history — not waiting minutes, and not comparable between parks. This guide suggests an order; it does not book, reserve or check park reservations.

The recommendation keeps your visit counts fixed and minimises the sum of within-park percentiles (0 = that park's lightest eligible date in your trip, 1 = its busiest). Ties go to fewer days with unpublished hours, then lower cost for the parks you listed first, then earlier dates and park slug order. Park-relative levels are never compared across parks as minutes, and unknown days are never recommended. Ties go to fewer days relying on unpublished park hours, then lighter days for the parks you listed first, then a fixed date-and-park order, so the same choices always give the same plan.

Method

How the allocation works

Every day in the crowd calendar has a 1–10 score for each park, ranked against that park’s own history from the wait times we record every minute. A 3 at one park and a 3 at another are each a lighter-than-usual day for that park — not the same number of minutes in line.

So the guide never compares parks with each other. For each park it ranks your trip days from lightest to busiest (ties share a rank) and turns that rank into a 0–1 position within the park. The recommended plan is the one with the lowest total of those positions across all your visits, with each park getting exactly the number of days you asked for.

When two plans total the same, it prefers fewer days relying on unpublished park hours, then lighter days for the parks you listed first, then a fixed date-and-park order — so the same choices always give the same plan.

Days with no crowd score are never counted as light: they are left out of the recommendation and only appear in a separately labelled option. Rest days and fixed days are always kept. If your choices can’t all fit, the guide tells you which one to change instead of making up a plan.

Ticketed-event days compared with the same month’s other days

A ticketed-event day is a date with a Disney-published special ticketed event on that park’s schedule. Each month with at least one is compared only with the other observed days of that month.

Magic Kingdom

25 of 25 Disney-published ticketed-event days observed (Special Ticketed Event); 229 days without a published schedule left out.

Methodology

  • Scores are each park's own 1–10 crowd decile and posted-wait medians are Disney's posted standby waits recorded every minute; both are Mickey Alerts observations, not attendance.
  • A ticketed-event day is any park-local date with a Disney-published 'Special Ticketed Event' schedule row. The comparison is descriptive: it does not show that the event caused the difference — those dates also close early to day guests and differ in weekday mix and season.
  • Days without an observed score are counted as missing, never as light or busy. Days with no published schedule are excluded from the event comparison and counted separately.
  • Medians use the lower middle value of the sorted daily values; shares are counts divided by observed days. Every number can be recomputed from the CSV rows.
  • Floors: a weekday needs at least 8 observed days; a month’s comparison needs at least 5 event and 5 comparison days; a park needs at least 10 observed event days in total.
  • Methodology s16-park-day-analysis-v1, dated 2026-09-16; this summary was generated 2026-09-17T19:58:41.2436591Z. Medians use the lower middle value.

Questions

Best Days to Visit Disney World FAQ

What is the best day to visit Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Hollywood Studios or Animal Kingdom?

It depends on your dates. Enter your trip and how many days you want at Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Hollywood Studios or Animal Kingdom; the guide ranks each park’s days against that park’s own crowd history and places each visit on the lightest combination of days, keeping your rest days and pinned days.

Is a crowd level of 3 at one park the same as a 3 at another?

No. Each score is that park’s own 1–10 level from its own history, so a 3 means a lighter-than-usual day for that park. The guide never compares waiting minutes between parks; it only ranks each park’s days against each other.

What happens to days without a crowd score?

They are never recommended. A day with no score is not treated as a light day — it is left out, and any option that has to use one is shown separately and labelled.

What if my choices don’t fit?

If your visit counts, pinned days and rest days contradict each other — for example more visits than days — the guide says which choice conflicts and how to fix it, instead of inventing a plan.

Are the examples predictions for my trip?

No. The worked examples use frozen sample crowd data and fixed sample dates to show how the ranking works. Enter your own dates to get a plan from current crowd data.

Does this book anything or check park reservations?

No. It does not book, reserve, check park reservations or create alerts, and nothing you enter is saved. You can carry a chosen park day into the free day planner.
